UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN ONTARIO’S

Women in STEM

We are an all inclusive club that provides opportunities in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. We provide people of all genders and academic backgrounds a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment to thrive.

WIS is the largest STEM/Science club at Western!

Tune In!

Meet Jessie, our VP of Community Inclusion, and find out what our CI team does in WIS! Included in this episode: the inspiration behind our Resource Book, an EDI Training digest, and a realistic take on campus culture.

Stem into STEM!

This year, we are bringing back Stem into STEM: a chance for general members to get more involved with the club. This largely focuses on giving you the opportunity to get leadership roles in WIS and actively share your interests in STEM with fellow members in our mini blog hub.

What is Stem into STEM?

This year, we are bringing back Stem into STEM: a chance for general members to get more involved with the club. This largely focuses on giving you the opportunity to get leadership roles in WIS and actively share your interests in STEM with fellow members in our mini blog hub. These blog posts will be featured on our website (and potentially other platforms)!

With February being Black History month, our topic is Racial Inequalities within STEM Fields. STEM is such a broad topic that consists of a variety of programs ranging from engineering to medicine but something that is not seen very often within these programs are representation of students of color. Many times, when we walk into an office, a lab or even into some of our STEM classes, people of colour, especially black students are the minority in these places. We would love to hear your thoughts on this topic!
